Here's what Sing Out! magazine (v. 53, #4) had to say:

RALPH BODINGTON, Old Paint, (Minstrel
Records 216). As a banjo player, I
know how difficult it is to play and sing
simultaneously. Ralph Boddington is a talented
banjo player and singer, and Old
Paint is a collection of old-time standards.
A few favorites include Tommy Jarrell’s
classic “John Brown’s Dream,” with the
lyrics sung here so you can understand
them, and “Washington’s March” from the
Hammons Family, through the playing of
Dwight Diller. The title selection is seldom
heard on the banjo, and Ralph does a fine
job on this tune, which he learned from the
playing of Jess Morris. This is some fine
old-time music! — TD
